Suicide Solution — Therapy for Depression and Feeling Better

Reading Time: 8 minutesFACT: You’re the only one that knows how you’re truly feeling. It is this undeniable logic that shapes my belief that you are also the only one who can do something about it. I found that spending less time trying to get everyone else to understand how I’m feeling and spending a lot more time trying to find a resolution is the better way to attack the problem.

STOP!

Put the gun down.

Seriously — take a deep breath, relax a second, and think about it…

Recently, I noticed some pretty grim status updates on Facebook from an old acquaintance of mine. Now, I’m no stranger to talk of being “done with it all” and “sick to death of life”. I read this stuff seemingly every day from one person or another. The wonderful world of social networking has granted us all the opportunity to take the most morbid thoughts of our darkest hours and throw them right out in public for all eyes to see. Hence, I normally don’t pay any heed to such things as it’s become pretty common in our society. But, one string of status quotes in particular got my attention a few nights ago from said Facebooker.

It started with:

“I hope this all works out as planned”

then:

“Leaving my old life behind and all the bad memories with it…”

next:

“Ive never felt so ready to be done with all this”

then finally, the one that really raised a brow:

“Elysian fields ill see you soon….god forgive me..”

Something seemed different to me. I didn’t interpret this as the usual attention-starved jargon, desperately screaming for some daytime drama. This clearly sounded like the guy was planning to kill himself. Being a person who has danced with the devil and fought that urge my whole life, I couldn’t just “walk on by” and assume this was just another example of the aforementioned drama-invite and say nothing. I wrote the guy a pretty in-depth piece of my perspective of life and the things that cause these feelings of black and nothingness. I’ll share these thoughts with you below, in hopes that someone out there who is going through something similar may find some sort of comfort or inspiration:

Some After Thoughts On The Devil Inside

Reading Time: 2 minutesthe movie left me with the same feeling I have when I’m dumb enough to order a Floyd Mayweather fight: A lot of hype, build up, and a big shit-sandwich at the end

Reading Time: 2 minutes

‘Went out to see this with a couple friends last night……

I’d agree that moments of it were really well done. I thought Suzan Crowley (nice name) was fantastic and wished her character would’ve gotten more screen time. She had a very effective presence, as the entire audience’s whispers and random cluttering in the packed theater fell completely silent when she hit the screen. She had us in the palm of her hand the whole segment of her daughter, Isabella, visiting her the first time. Good stuff.

But, the movie overall felt rushed and borrowed a little too much from Paranormal Activity in terms of character development and general presentation. I know there are only so many ways to present a found-footage film, but there was definitely a PA vibe in a lot of it for me. The Blair Witch Project succeeded in making the story a real-life type place and event, whereas The Devil Inside leaves a bit to be desired. To me, it never felt like this was something that could really happen aside from Crowley being on-screen, and again, her time with us was limited.

The ending… (not really a spoiler but a definite hint of the impact it made, hit the tag if you’d like to know more).

Random Thoughts on Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D
(aka Leatherface 3D)

UPDATE

Added the new trailer as well as my thoughts on it.
Click here to skip to it if you’ve already read the post.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything horror-related. In a world full of cheap Hollywood ripoffs (often masqueraded as ‘remakes’), sissy vampires, and a never-ending assembly line of zombies galore — there hasn’t been a whole lot going on to stimulate my interest as of late. With next summer’s Prometheus being the lone beacon of intrigue in this sea of rehash and staleness for some time, I was quite surprised when I started to hear about a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film that actually sounds interesting.

First and foremost — this film is going to be a SEQUEL, not another silly remake. And not just any sequel, but a continuation of the original movie. That alone was enough to get my attention. As I began to follow the pre-production, I was pleasantly surprised to find an exhilarating ensemble of TCM alumni involved in this project.

Thoughts on Louisville beating Kentucky,
Taking back the Governor’s Cup

Reading Time: 5 minutesMight not sound like too much, especially to anyone outside this state. But, watching a program go from winning the BCS Orange Bowl, with a passionate head coach and a team comprised of hungry, vicious beasts…

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Last weekend I watched as Louisville upset Kentucky in the Battle of the Bluegrass and took home the prestigious Governor’s Cup.

I remember last year, just before the rivalry game, during Charlie Strong’s inaugural season and the beginning of the Krag Holocaust cleanup. I made the comment on CardChronicle.com that if “UK gets us one more time while we’re weak, I’ll go ahead and say it’ll be the last time we lose to them for a while.” With Randall Cobb, Kentucky beat the Cards 23-16. No surprise there.

This year, however, I don’t understand why Louisville were the underdogs despite it being a road game. I think people put a little too much stock in the loss to FIU. Keeping in mind that FIU (currently 3-0 at the time of this publication) is a promising program on the rise, and Louisville were completely out of sorts in their first two games, the Cardinals were still able to compete with the Panthers and put themselves in a position to tie the game at the end and send it to OT. Kentucky, on the other hand, looked abysmal in both their first two games against Western KY and C. Michigan. As a fan I felt confident about the Battle of the Bluegrass this year, and the Cards did not disappoint. The tandem of Teddy Bridgewater and Dominique Brown proved to be too much for the Cats as Louisville walked out of Commonwealth Stadium with a 24-17 victory and the Governor’s Cup in hand for the first time since 2006.

Floyd Mayweather / Victor Ortiz Sucker Punch
Larry Merchant PUNKS Floyd Mayweather

Reading Time: 2 minutesLast night the boxing world got treated to yet another healthy dose of Floyd Mayweather. Take a look at the video below. First off, major kudos to Larry Merchant for providing us the highlight of the night by punking Mayweather out in front of the world. Nicely done and well deserved. I’m sure the few Floyd supports that are left out there will defend his actions by saying Ortiz shouldn’t have headbutted him.

First off, major kudos to Larry Merchant for providing us the highlight of the night by punking Mayweather out in front of the world. Nicely done and well deserved. Floyd took a giant crap right on the sport and the fans by sucker-punching Victor Ortiz, then went on an unprofessional tirade straight out of the ghetto. Wouldn’t be surprised if he and his ignorant cronies broke into Merchant’s car and stole his stereo before heading to the hotel, just to put an exclamation point on the disgrace they left in the ring.
