When the horror genre entered the 1970's it began to mold into a devilish era of shock and macabre. Films such as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Halloween broke ground on a new element of terror taking the genre into the 80's. Special effects were evolving to new levels with advanced makeup and the advent of latex, beginning the ground-breaking gore in what would become to be known as the slasher era.

Linda Blair was originally considered for Class III for her legendary portrayal of Regan MacNeil in 1973's The Exorcist, but was ultimately nixed in favor of Betsy Palmer on the same grounds that cost her an academy award for the film. Blair played the character very briefly in the memorable demonic stages as it was leaked to the public that she was often doubled by a heavily makeup-smothered dummy with the infamous demonic voice dubbed over by Mercedes McCambridge.

The nod goes to Jason's mother for her on-screen portrayal of brutal killer Pamela Voorhees in the original Friday the 13th.
